Christchurch Gondola Location

The Gondola is accessed from 10 Bridle Path Rd, in the Heathcote Valley, just 15 minutes drive from central Christchurch. There is free parking at the Base Station car park, with room for cars, coaches and motor homes. See below for transport options.

CHRISTCHURCH GONDOLA SHUTTLE: Square - Gondola - Square
Our direct shuttle service to the Gondola departs daily, beside the Tram Stop in Cathedral Square. This service includes commentary from the driver and is $10 for an Adult Return and $5 for a Child Return. City Bus Services
Two city bus services visit the Christchurch Gondola Base Station regularly each day, departing every 15 minutes!
A two hour return ticket costs only $3.20.

No. 28 Lyttleton/Rapaki: departs from opposite Ballantyne’s Department Store (Platform D, outside the City Exchange) on Colombo St in the central city. Please click here for a timetable of this route.

No 35. Lyttleton via Heathcote: departs from the City Exchange, cnr of Colombo St and Cashel St Mall, (Platform C, inside the building) central city. Please click here for a timetable of this route.

Driving
From the city: travel south on Durham, Colombo, Manchester or Barbadoes St, then turn left into Moorhouse Ave. follow Moorhouse Ave until it becomes Ferry Road. Continue along Ferry Road through Waltham and Ferrymead until you cross the estuary bridge, then turn right onto Bridle Path Rd. Follow Bridle Path Rd until you see the Gondola Base Station carpark, just before the Tunnel Rd exit.

Or: Head south on Durham, Colombo, Manchester or Barbadoes St, then turn left onto Brougham St. Follow this motorway and take a slight right turn onto Opawa Rd, then Port Hills Rd, and takes you under the Tunnel Rd flyover. Continue along Port Hills Rd until you reach Bridle Path Rd. turn right onto Bridle Path Rd and turn left to the Christchurch Gondola carpark just before the Tunnel Rd exit.
