Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Gondola situated?
10 Bridle Path Road, Heathcote, Christchurch.

How long does it take to get there?
It is approximately 10 minute drive from the City centre depending on traffic then a 10 – 15 minute ride on the Gondola to the top. There is ample parking for cars and buses at the base station.

Pinnacle RestaurantCan I get to the Restaurant without having to ride the Gondola?
The only way to the Restaurant is by Gondola ride; this makes it a truly unique dining experience.

Is there public transport available from the City?
The Lyttelton No.28 Bus leaves from the Lichfield St Bus exchange every 15 – 20 minutes during the day up to 6.50pm and every 30 minutes after that.
The last bus returning to the City is at 11.08pm.

When is the Restaurant open?
From 22 April until September 2009 the Restaurant will only be open from Thursdays to Saturdays for Ala carte dining. However ,we can still take group or function bookings for any night of the week.  

What type of Menus do you have?
We have an A la Carte Menu, we also offer set menus and buffet menus for groups and/or functions. We also have a menu that caters for children.

Do I have to make a booking?
We always recommend you make a booking as this may determine whether or not the restaurant will open depending on bookings. Ph 03 384 0707 to make a booking or leave a message for a booking.

When is the latest booking time and what time can I stay to?
We take booking until 8.30pm and the Gondolas will continue to run until approximately 11.30pm or when the last diner has finished.

Can we BYO?
We are a fully licensed restaurant. So sorry, no BYO.

Pinnacle RestaurantDo we need to pay for the Gondola ride if we are dining in the Restaurant?
There is a discounted Gondola ride tariff of $10 per guest based on a main meal per diner being ordered. This is payable at the base station.

Can we get a window seat?
We can offer tables with a City view or a Harbour and Banks Peninsula view. Please request which you would prefer when making your booking.

Can we book the Restaurant for functions?
Yes the Restaurant (120 guest’s max.) and Crater Room (80 guests max.) are available for function bookings. See below for more information on functions.

Do you cater for different dietary requirements?
We have vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free options available. If you have any dietary requirements we encourage you to mention this to staff when making a booking.

What is the Dress Code?
Smart casual

Can you board the Gondola in a wheelchair?
There is a wheelchair available at the base station that does fit in Gondolas and there are lifts at the top station to get to and from each floor.

What payment types do you accept?
We accept cash, Eftpos and all credit card types.

Do you do Lunch sittings?

Do you provide Birthday cakes?
We can order a birthday cake for an extra $45 dollars.
